Frequently asked questions

How do I restore Housepour Pro on a new phone or after reinstalling?

Housepour Pro is tied to your App Store or Google Play account, not to the app. Open Settings → Housepour Pro (or any Pro feature) and tap Restore. Make sure you’re signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with.

Is Housepour Pro a subscription?

No. It’s a one-time purchase. There’s nothing to cancel and no renewal.

Why do I see ads, and how do I remove them?

The free version shows one banner ad above the tab bar on the Bar, Drinks, and List screens; that’s how every recipe stays free. Housepour Pro removes it everywhere in the app. If you already bought Pro and still see an ad, tap Restore in Settings → Housepour Pro.

How do I stop ads from being personalized?

On iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn Housepour off. On Android, open your device’s Settings → Google → Ads and delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalization. You’ll see the same number of ads either way; they just won’t be based on your interests. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I move my bar to a new phone?

Housepour has no account or cloud sync; your data lives on your phone. On the old phone, open Settings → Backup → Export backup and save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone (Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or email it to yourself). On the new phone, install Housepour, then use Settings → Backup → Restore from backup and pick that file. Restoring replaces everything on the new phone.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

It’s deleted with the app, and we have no copy to recover. Export a backup first if you might want it back. Your Housepour Pro purchase is safe: restore it from the store after reinstalling.

Why does a recipe show as missing an ingredient I have?

Check the bottle’s level: bottles at 0% don’t count unless you turn off Out-of-stock blocks recipes in Settings. Allow generic substitution lets a general bottle (like Whiskey) count for a specific one (like Bourbon), and Pro’s swap-aware matching counts close substitutes such as lime for lemon.

The label scanner didn’t recognize my bottle.

Scanning works best with the front label flat to the camera, in good light, and filling most of the frame. If it still can’t read it, tap Enter Manually. Everything the scanner fills in can be edited before you save.

I turned off camera or photo access. How do I turn it back on?

Tap Open Settings on the scan screen, or go to your device’s Settings, find Housepour, and allow Camera or Photos. Housepour only uses them to scan the labels you photograph or choose, and those pictures never leave your device.

I found a bug or the app crashed.
