1. Acceptance and what the app is
By downloading or using Housepour, you enter into a binding agreement with Oakland Labs LLC and agree to these Terms of Use. Housepour is a personal home-bar tool: it tracks the bottles you own, suggests cocktails you can make, keeps a shopping list and drink log, and reads bottle labels on your device. Core features are free; some features require Housepour Pro.
The free version is supported by advertising, as described in section 5.
If you downloaded Housepour from the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, these terms govern to the extent Apple’s agreement allows.
2. Legal drinking age and responsible drinking
You must be of legal drinking age where you live to use Housepour. The app contains information about alcoholic beverages and is not intended for anyone under that age.
Recipes, strength labels, and serving suggestions are for information and entertainment only. They are not medical, nutritional, or safety advice, and strength labels are rough estimates. Please drink responsibly: know your limits, never drink and drive, and don’t drink if you are pregnant, taking medication that interacts with alcohol, or have a condition alcohol can worsen. You are solely responsible for what you choose to make and drink, including checking ingredients for allergies. Oakland Labs is not liable for any injury, illness, or loss arising from alcohol consumption or from preparing any recipe.
3. Housepour Pro
Housepour Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, not a subscription. It is sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and it grants you a personal, non-transferable license to use Pro features on devices signed in to the store account that bought it. If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, use Restore Purchases in the app to recover it. Pro also removes ads from the app. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; if a purchase is refunded, Pro features are removed and ads return.
Pro remains available for as long as Housepour is offered through the App Store or Google Play. Oakland Labs may discontinue the app at any time, with no obligation to provide refunds, credits, or a replacement service, except where the law requires otherwise.
4. Your content
You own everything you put into Housepour: your bottles, recipes, notes, and logs. It stays on your device; we do not receive it, and it is never shared with advertisers. You are responsible for keeping your own backups; the app’s backup export is the only way to recover your data if your device is lost or the app is deleted.
5. Advertising
The free version of Housepour shows a banner ad provided by Google AdMob. Ads are selected and served by Google, not by Oakland Labs; their appearance is not an endorsement, and any purchase or interaction with an advertiser is solely between you and that advertiser. How ad data is handled, and how to limit ad personalization, is described in our Privacy Policy. Housepour Pro removes ads.
6. Our content
The recipe collection, ingredient catalog, text, artwork, and software in Housepour are owned by or licensed to Oakland Labs and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share individual recipes with friends, including through the app’s share feature, but you may not copy, scrape, or redistribute the recipe collection or catalog as a whole. Brand and product names shown in the app belong to their owners and are used only to identify products; Housepour is not affiliated with or endorsed by any beverage brand.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its purchase checks, except where the law permits; not to block, manipulate, or generate fraudulent impressions or clicks on ads; not to use the app for any unlawful purpose; and not to use it to promote drinking by anyone under the legal drinking age.
8. Disclaimers and liability
Housepour is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that label scanning will correctly identify every bottle, that recipe suggestions or strength labels are accurate, or that the app will be free of errors. Oakland Labs is not liable for data loss resulting from device failure, deleting the app, restoring a backup, or not keeping a backup.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Housepour Pro. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Changes, governing law, and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date above and, where significant, noted in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
